Seifert & Allen Smash T20 World Cup Opening Record

New Zealand's Tim Seifert and Finn Allen set the highest opening partnership in T20 World Cup history with an unbeaten 175 against UAE.

New Zealand demolished the UAE by 10 wickets in Chennai, with openers Tim Seifert and Finn Allen rewriting the record books.

The Record

Their unbeaten 175-run partnership is now the highest for any wicket in T20 World Cup history. The Kiwis chased down 174 in just 15.2 overs.

  • Tim Seifert: 89* off 42 balls
  • Finn Allen: 84* off 50 balls

UAE's Effort

The UAE put up a respectable 173/6, with captain Muhammad Waseem scoring 66 and Alishan Sharafu contributing 55. But the New Zealand openers made light work of the target.

Impact

The win puts New Zealand top of Group D and sends a clear message to the rest of the tournament. With both openers in this kind of form, the Kiwis look like genuine contenders for the Super 8s and beyond.
